Meeting your Kyoto target
The average Canadian produces 7 tonnes of CO2 per
year from driving a car, heating, lighting and running appliances. An
acre of mature trees captures 2.6 tonnes of CO2 per
acre per year. So a sixth of an acre of trees will capture 6% of your
personal CO2 output. The Kyoto target for Canada is
to reduce our CO2 output to 6% of 1990 levels by
2012. Many dismiss the Kyoto target as impractical, impossible,
ineffective - but if we do nothing then we are headed for disaster. Only
by many of us acting individually can we make a real difference.
For facts and figures, see our page of
Environmental Information.

Your woodland is one
sixth of an acre or 674 square metres, which is 85
by 85 feet or 26 by 26 metres. Most
pieces are square and all are surveyed using the latest GIS technology.
Enough woodland to meet
your personal Kyoto target....
